Manufacturer of Enema Tips for Radiology

Runfold Plastics enema tips (colon tubes) are used in barium enema X-ray examination of the large intestine (colon and rectum). Our enema tips are sometimes used in a procedure referred to a Lower Gastrointestinal exam. The procedures are used in conjunction with a Barium Sulfate solution. The colon is filled with a contrast material that contains Barium so the intestine can be seen using X-rays. By pouring the contrast material through the tube attached to the enema tip, which is inserted into the anus, the Barium blocks the X-rays which causes the Barium-filled colon to show clearly on the X-ray picture.

There are two types of Barium enema procedures:

  • Single-Contrast:
The colon is filled with Barium, which outlines the intestine to show large adnormalities.
  • Double-Contrast:
The colon is filled with Barium, then the Barium is drained leaving only a thin layer of Barium on the wall of the colon. Then air is pumped into the colon. With the colon inflated, the double-contrast procedure provides a detailed view of the inner surface of the colon; making it easier to see strictures, diverticula and swelling.

Rectal catheters are used for Barium Imaging and other colon procedures.

Runfold Plastics is a large manufacturer of enema probes and enema tips. These enema tips for radiology are used by hospitals and medical centres for the detection of medical related bowel conditions using barium solutions with x-ray.

We can design colon tips and enema tips specific to customer requirements.  Our process is fully integrated with manufacture, assembly, testing and packing. All quality procedures are ISO 13485 certified.
