An alternative material for Anti-corrosion Vehicle Restraint Crash Barrier Sockets for use by the Highways Agency.
Runfold Plastics has been working with a leading supplier and installer of safety barrier systems to produce anti-corrosion vehicle restraint crash barrier sockets in a plastic material.
These products are typically made from galvanised mild steel. The aim of this project was to find an environmentally suitable replacement corrosion resistant material whilst retaining the properties and durability.
Working with our raw material suppliers a plastic material was produced with a recycled polymer content.
The new alternative plastic material product has a lower cost in comparison to the standard steel version.
Several road maintenance projects are now using this new polymer socket.
